Sorry I haven’t written much lately. Not only has it been busy, but I haven’t quite known what to write about the last few days. God has been dealing with me in several areas. I feel His love just like the love of a father when he disciplines. These are not areas that you would see. And no, not areas that threaten my ministry. You won’t see me on the news anytime soon. But areas that need to be more like Christ. Attitudes. Pride. Priorities. These are the things God has been speaking to me about.
Today, I was in one of my favorite Psalms. 86:11 – 12 says:
11 Teach me your way, O LORD,
and I will walk in your truth;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name.
12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart;
I will glorify your name forever. (NIV)
I love those verses and have prayed for that to be my attitude many times. But verse 1 hit me today.
1 Hear, O LORD, and answer me,
for I am poor and needy.
Poor and needy here does not refer to monetary needs. Poor and needy is our position before God. Not a groveling beggar, but one who realizes that God has all that we need. Without Him we have nothing of eternal worth. Nothing that glorifies Him. That should be our attitude as we approach our Lord. Then, we celebrate His goodness!
