Wow. I read this passage in Isaiah today. Never really noticed it before.
Isaiah 5:1-2
I will sing for the one I love
a song about his vineyard:
My loved one had a vineyard
on a fertile hillside.
He dug it up and cleared it of stones
and planted it with the choicest vines.
He built a watchtower in it
and cut out a winepress as well.
Then he looked for a crop of good grapes,
but it yielded only bad fruit.

What a vivid picture. And we thought that Jesus started the word picture deal. God founded a nation, chose a people. Gave them a land flowing with milk and honey. Gave them the power to drive out nations that were much larger and much more powerful than they were. He chose them to possess His favor. We know from verse 7 that God was talking about Israel specifically. But does this also sound like America? Founded on a belief in the Almighty. Blessed as the richest nation on earth. But now, do we honor God?
Look at verses 20 and 21.
Isaiah 5:20,21
Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter.
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
and clever in their won sight.
Woe to us. What do you think?
