I’m not really sure how to do this because a mission trip is such a “big” thing. How do you answer the question “How was your trip to Africa?” There is no good short answer. Therefore, I will spread this out a little bit. As I sort through pictures and memories I will post them here and try to give you a sense of what happened in our short time in Kenya.
Week1, Day 1
Our trip started with a big delay. After meeting Brooke from Niceville, Fl (college student traveling with our team) we found out that storms in Chicago would delay our flight. It did not take long to figure out that we would miss our London connection. Here we are waiting paitently in Birmingham, Al:
After we missed our London flight, we found out that we would not get to Nairobi until Wednesday (it was Sunday at the time) and that we would not leave for London until the next day. So, we spent the night at O’Hare International Airport
after standing for three hours in this line:
Week 1, Day 2
The next day we made it to London with half of our luggage. But it wasn’t all bad. Since we couldn’t leave until Wednesday, Tuesday was an unexpected free day in London:
Week 1, Day 3
Week 1, Day 4
Finally, we arrived in Nairobi with half of our luggage.
More later…

As a fellow road warrior I feel you pain on flight problems, but having a day in London couldn’t have been all that bad, even if you had to wear the same clothes for three days, right?
Of course not. The free day in London was actually a great little gift from God. And I did have a change of underwear!
Hey, Great job on this blog –
I sent you my pics and you should have them by now. It was a great working with all you. And it was also good talking to you about my faith and where I am with it. I a know I am a work in progress.
Let everybody know I said hi, and I hope Jims finger is doing better. Hows the DOG?
