Get Sonya to Kenya 2012

Dear Family and Friends,

Hello everyone!  I was so blessed to be able to go to Kenya in July of last year and didn’t “expect” that God would call me to go again the very next year…but He has and I am thrilled!  This time, Brian will be going with me and actually leading some of our church members to go with us as well.  Naturally, this is very exciting for us but also a little scary as we will be leaving our 5 babies for 2 weeks.  As only God can do, He made provision for their care before I even knew I was supposed to go.  That was the first HUGE indicator that He was saying “go” (besides my desire to go back soon).

We will spend one week with the same group of teenagers that we were with last year in Kenya (the “Heralds”) working on a building for them in the morning and doing an afternoon/evening bible camp with them when they get home from school.  We will also spend time at the Heart of the Bride orphanage in Entebbe, Uganda discipling the children and doing whatever else may be needed there.  I look forward to participating in these ministries of Heart of the Bride in all the capacities God has planned for us.

We will leave on July 21 and return on August 4.  The total approximate cost of the trip is $3,200.  From a realistic standpoint, of course, the financial aspect of the trip is concerning but we trust that God will provide for that as He did before.  If you feel you are in a position to support me financially, know that the bulk of this amount ($2,300) is for my airfare and is due as soon as possible.  The remainder of the support is due July 10, 2012.

Above all else, I covet your prayer support as I prepare for the trip and while I am abroad. Here are some specific ways you can pray for the team and me:
~that God will move in and through us
~that He will open doors of ministry and move in the hearts of people of Kenya and Uganda
~protection for all of us and our children as we are so far away
~that the team will work in unity and that God will prepare us for whatever He has for us to do
