Who will be the first to tell him I posted this pic?  Here he is now for comparison:

It’s going to be a great day.

numbering our days

Sounds morbid and depressing doesn’t it?  But I love what the Psalmist prayed in Psalm 90:12:

Teach us to number our days aright,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Like a few other psalms, this one has a couple of verses focused on the brevity of life.  Then comes this verse.  It is convicting to me because he is saying that we need to consider how we use our time in light of its limited nature.  Then we can look at it from God’s perspective, with His wisdom.  I waste way too much time.  How about you?

The other cool thing about this psalm: it was written by Moses.

internet phone update #3 – problem found

I found the problem.  Good news: it will not happen again.  Bad news: it was our fault so we really owe the bill.  Anyone want to donate to the cause?

what do you think?

Got a funeral today.  The last time I wore a tie was for my Grandmother’s funeral in June 2007.  Before that it was Christmas 2005.  The moral of the story: if you see me wearing a tie, assume the worst.  The good news, I tied it in one try.

internet phone experiment update #2 – Houston we have a problem

A big problem.  You may remember that back in July we started experimenting with an internet phone service for all of our long distance calls.  You can read about it here.  It worked great so in August I cancelled our long distance calling plan.  Any long distance calls that might be made from our home phone would cost a pretty penny but we would use the internet phone for just $3 a month.  I got it all set up and waited for our lower AT&T bill.  Ready to feel the satisfaction of beating the system.  Stickin’ it to the man.  Well, our September AT&T bill arrived with a big surprise.  It was quite a bit higher.  We looked at the bill and decided that we had messed up a few times and called from the wrong phone.  Yesterday, I got our October bill and almost passed out.

It is two and a half times more expensive than before.  I can’t figure it out.  Even though we are using our internet phone all of our calls are showing up on the AT&T bill.  The only thing I can figure out is that since we use a phone that does both landline and internet calling, it must be using the landline when it is supposed to be using the internet.  But when I test it, it uses the internet.  I don’t know what to do.  This thing was supposed to pay for itself.  All it has done is cost me.  I feel sick in my stomach when things like this happen.

manly confession #1

Although I go to the gym regularly, I never touch this:
