A big problem. You may remember that back in July we started experimenting with an internet phone service for all of our long distance calls. You can read about it here. It worked great so in August I cancelled our long distance calling plan. Any long distance calls that might be made from our home phone would cost a pretty penny but we would use the internet phone for just $3 a month. I got it all set up and waited for our lower AT&T bill. Ready to feel the satisfaction of beating the system. Stickin’ it to the man. Well, our September AT&T bill arrived with a big surprise. It was quite a bit higher. We looked at the bill and decided that we had messed up a few times and called from the wrong phone. Yesterday, I got our October bill and almost passed out.
It is two and a half times more expensive than before. I can’t figure it out. Even though we are using our internet phone all of our calls are showing up on the AT&T bill. The only thing I can figure out is that since we use a phone that does both landline and internet calling, it must be using the landline when it is supposed to be using the internet. But when I test it, it uses the internet. I don’t know what to do. This thing was supposed to pay for itself. All it has done is cost me. I feel sick in my stomach when things like this happen.
