painting the Ellie Bellie

Last kid, we tried something new for fun.  Letting the kids paint Sonya’s belly.  It was so much fun that we did it again.  This time, the belly has a name – the Ellie Bellie.  Obviously it gets its name from the one inside.

Then, they painted themselves and we just had some good old fashion fun at the pool:

redneck pool experiment

Just over a year ago I posted this about our pool situation.  It featured a pic of a friend’s pool under construction and a description that included the words “redneck pool.”  That post continues to get the most hits of any on this site.  Apparently, those are popular search terms.

Therefore, in an effort to boost hits to God Seeker Blog, I offer this:

catch of the day

pool-chair2

Strong winds Sunday night blew one of our chairs into the pool.  After a long hard fight, I was able to reel it in.  I am so proud.

Why we love our house

Because it is a home to many.  We didn’t look for a house with a pool but God gave us one.  So we want to use it for his glory.  We want to use it to bring people together.  We want to use it to minister to others.  We have since had several people over (from in and out of town) that just needed to chill by the pool for awhile.  No conversation.  No pressure.  Just chillin’.

July 4, 2008, we had tons of family over.  Just relaxing and having a good time.  Everyone got in the pool, even the grandparents.  The next day, 40+ people from our Sunday School Class came over for a party.  People let go of their inhibitions and self-consciousness and had a great time.

This past weekend, our good friends, the Ragsdales, from Indianapolis stayed the weekend with us.  We hung out by the pool all weekend.  Madison learned to dive which led to Emma doing the same.  It was a great weekend.  Jason and Kristi, Madison and Mariah (twin girls born just 10 days before Emma) are great friends.

We love our home.  Thank you, God.

The Crisman Fam – Lovin the Pool

There times when I write my mortgage check that I think I hear a little Frank Ramsey (that’s what my friends and I call Dave Ramsey) sitting on my shoulder telling me that we should have bought a smaller house or stayed where we were and used the extra money  to pay off debt or a myriad of other good uses.  But then I realize how much more at peace my family is in this house and how we now spend hours in the pool with few fusses just enjoying being with each other.  Then I realize how God has blessed us.  He has met all of our needs and even a few wants.  But even the wants He’s allowed have been for our good.  God is good.

la Famiglia!

I love the scene at the end of Moonstruck where everyone is gathered around the table proclaiming “la Famiglia!”  Friends, family, in-laws – it didn’t matter, they were all family.  That’s how is was at the Crisman household this weekend.  We had family, friends, and a potential in-law all gathered around the table and the pool, but it was all the same.  It was all family.  Great, great weekend.

The Wait is Over

We bought our house in October.  When the kids saw it for the first time, the pool was covered and closed for the winter.  A few weeks ago, I got it cleaned up and looking pretty nice, but it was cold.  To say that they have been dying to get in would be a massive understatement.  On Friday, the wait ended.

Pool temp = 73 degrees!
